George Samuel Clason, born on November 7, 1874, was a Louisiana, Missouri native who served in the American Army during the Spanish-American War while attending the University of Nebraska. He established the Clason Map Company in Denver, Colorado and embarked on a long career in publishing. Among his many achievements, Clason released the first road atlas of the United States and Canada through his company. In 1926, he published the first of a series of widely popular pamphlets on financial success and thrift. To illustrate each argument, he employed parables set in ancient Babylon.
